Sonya McMillan is a Benefits Screener at Catholic Charities who brings life experiences and kindness to each interaction with clients. A new resident of Baltimore, Sonya spent most of her career within non-profits in Philadelphia, PA. She served as the Executive Director of the Resident Advisory Board connected with the Philadelphia Housing Authority, where she was in constant contact with residents of public housing to ensure their needs were being met. Prior to that, Sonya co-founded the North Philadelphia Human Service Corporation. One of Sonya’s proudest achievements is helping to organize the 1997 One Million Woman march, a social protest that brought women and girls of African descent from all over the world together with a message of hope and empowerment.
Sonya says that her favorite part of working with clients is when they come back to say thank you. “Nothing is more rewarding!” she says. At Our Daily Bread Employment Center, she sees clients with a wide range of needs, and sees the value of connecting them with financial resources available in the community. Thank you, Sonya!
